What Is Japanese “Omotenashi”?

I was packing my room and found a magazine that I vaguely remember chancing upon last year while dining at a Japanese restaurant. I found an article they wrote rather interesting and that’s about “Omotenashi”.

Basically the gist of it is this:

“Omotenashi has a similar meaning hospitality in English, but it suggests a deeper part of the human consciousness.”

So an example they gave was, “The host anticipates the needs of the guest in advance and offers a pleasant service that guests don’t expect.

Food for thought =)

Meetup With Local Internet Marketers

I think it is important that as an internet marketer, you go out and meet people and not to be coop up behind your laptop 24/7.  I am grateful that Alex Yeo has coordinated a superb mini meetup together with George Tee & Ivan Ong. Thank you for the awesome sharings and being really sincere =)

These are really nice people whom are willing to share.

Think Of What You Will Want For Yourself Then Give It To Others

A few days back I was sitting down and reviewing a salescopy as I was putting a website for sale. And boy I was stuck! I wanted the salesletter to sell the website at the “Buy It Now” price meaning the desired sale price. But somehow by focusing on this, it gets me nowhere and the copy looks all too “sale-sy” for my own liking.

So what I did was to trash that aside and started to brainstorm. Yes I love brainstorming! It works for me and you should give it a shot too. I started to divert my focus onto my potential buyers!

Trigger questions I used were:

>> If I am a buyer what am I looking for?

>> I will be looking for benefits instead of features

>> What is in it for me radar will be on the lookout

etc.

I started penning down my ideas and page after page on my trusted note book, and subsequently transferred to words doc…

A whopping 12 page sales letter! And I feel inspired to buy my own website! I knew then that this is how I should be focusing. ADD VALUE TO YOUR CLIENTS!

I am happy to share that the copy worked =) It not only passed my own standards but I have managed to sell the website at the Buy-It-Now asking price =)

Hope that this short sharing serves you well!

P.S: By the way I will be attending the event by Ewen Chia & Patric Chan in February, if you are attending do drop me a note, we can meet up, if you have not gotten your tickets, you can get it HERE! Looking forward to meet up with some of you at the event!

2010 Reflections For An Awesome 2011!

2010 was a few days back and it is important to reflect upon the celebrations, lessons and feedbacks for an awesome present and future ahead.

Graduation

I would say one of the major milestones was completing my bachelor studies at NUS, commencement was on 9th July 2010. It was an amazing 3 years with friends whom are committed to the course in saving and caring for lives. The lessons and clinicals that I have experienced in the course of the study will certainly stay with me. I am grateful for my batchmates, lecturers, tutors, clinical instructors, coordinators, nursing leaders, patients and relatives whom I have interacted and learnt from.

I may not be practicing nursing, but I will always be grateful to be part of this profession and have the up most respect for nurses whom are there in action every single day.

Life & Death

At times relatives or curious friends will ask if I encounter the dead. And the answer will be, “Yes”. And then often times they will follow by asking, “Are you scared?”. Some people feel that it is a taboo topic or morbid topic to talk about. But personally I feel that all of us are heading that way anyway! Nevertheless whenever I had to perform last offices (to clean up the person whom just passed on), we were taught to talk to the patients as if they are still alive because hearing is the last to go, I will and I find that the deceased will help us to complete our job easily.

Naturally loved ones break down in front of you and you feel the loss for them as well. My point is really, to cherish and be grateful with what you have. To love abundantly and do not expect anything back.

It’s been 4 years since 2006 that dad has left us and a part of me still feels raw, and a blog post was made and it serves as a record for me to review. Wherever he is now, I pray that he is well and i know that he will be looking after us somehow. Well at least knowing this helps in comforting.

And in 2010, my dearest buddy experienced a loss and I was glad to be there to lend my shoulders and simply to be there. A friend of mine too. Sudden death? Post mortem: Cardiac arrest.

I think death hit us all hard, if the deceased is someone we know personally, the impact is even greater.

At the end of the day, when you look back, you want to know that you have done your best when the person was alive. Cherish.

Internet Business Journey

It had been a roller coaster ride. Was hit by the information overload tsunami. Survived and making progress. I am grateful for all the sincere marketer friends whom are ever willing to give me a hand and share with me how to make it work and this is what I am going to focus in 2011. No more school, no more excuses!

ACTION! Is the word. To put into practice.

I am going to share what worked for me. Period. And I am looking to do regular interviews with internet marketers, actually I prefer to address them as internet entrepreneurs =) Do look out for that.

Health

I have put on a whole load of weight! And I can feel the effects of the extra load. Lack of energy and focus. And I have a strong family history. Therefore, I am going to make radical changes. And this will be a separate post all together, I shall not dwell on now.

Community Service

I have not been active in volunteering in 2010, was only involved in a couple of ad hoc projects, and I am determined to commit to regular volunteering in 2011. Why volunteer? Giving back to the community will be a cliche but it is true at least for me that when I volunteer, I have a sense of being part of the community and more importantly the people whom you have touched =)

Vision Board | Visulisation

I would say that a vision board has served me well and there were alot if not all items on my 2010 vision board accomplished =) One of them was to travel out of Singapore 6 times and I just checked my passport yesterday and am glad that I have travelled out of Singapore 9 times! =)

In 2011, I am looking at travelling out of Singapore 10 times, with 2 long trips (1-2 weeks).

Again, you do not have to have a travel list as part of your vision board, it has to be meaningful to you, it is personal to you. Tip is when you visualize, visualize as if you already have it and include the emotions factor. Breath the air…what do you smell…etc.

Alright this much for a 2010 reflections for now.

Once again, here’s wishing you an awesome 2011! Take action!

Happy 2011! And Relaunch Of JY Chia “Blog Of Truths” =)

Here’s wishing you an awesome 2011 and thank you for dropping by my blog =)

I was reflecting late 2010 and felt that something was amiss and realised that I have not been blogging since 2008! And it is not about blogging per se, just for show kind of thing, I realised that blogging is a great way to keep record of things, similar to journal which was the starting point of blogging.

I am grateful for the earlier blogs that I created earlier: http://www.chiajiayu.wordpress.com and http://www.chiajiayu.com. Because it gave me a good review back in the good old times.

Once again I am going to pursue what my intention was and still is all along since way back in 2006 and that is to share with you (or for my own review)…JY Chia “Blog Of Truths” Nothing But The Truth About My Life, Self-Development & Internet Business!

I still remembered a few occasions during seminars when people whom I have not met before come up to me and say, “hi, JY,  you are jy chia blog of truths right?…”, it’s really nice that people actually reads your blog post and more importantly it serves them well.

And yes, I am officially rebooting the engine and relaunching JY Chia “Blog Of Truths”. I look forward to sharing more great stuffs with you =) Stay tuned!
